Could Steelers LB Alex Highsmith Be The Next Great LB In Steelers History?
Everyone knows the Steelers always have great line backers, they just seem to put on the Steeler uniform and it changes the way they play. Over the years there have always been great line backers in Pittsburgh, players like Lambert, Ham, Harrison, Porter even guys like Kirckland out preformed his draft pick, others included Green, Brown, the list goes on and on.
Now it takes us to Alex Highsmith who just won the AFC Defensive Player Of The Week Honors, his number place him in the running for D.P.O.Y and now that T.J. Watt is back causing problems on the other side and taking up that extra blocker, it could now open the door for Highsmith to be even more dominant.
His pass rush has become great, his tackling is solid and his cover skills look good, now that the Steelers defense is all mostly back, this defense can now become a special group as long as the offense don't run them out of gas in games by going 3 and out to many times.
With the return of Kazzee and Minka along with T.J. this could be just what the Steelers need to get back in the race, it's a big hole to over come and it's going to be insane to get out of this hole we created, but I like where this team is and with that softer second half schedule, we can make some noise for sure.
Highsmith is just another great line backer in Steelers history, as long as he stays healthy and we can sign him to a solid cap friendly contract next year, him and T.J could be the next great tag team in Steelers history. I have already posted him in my top 3 NFL defensive M.V.P for 2022.
Another amazing draft pick for former GM GURO Kevin Colbert, lets hope his drafting rubs off on our new GM and continue with great drafting.
